Friday night was the launch party for the new 2008 Nerdcore Calendar…

The Nerdcore 2008 Calendar is easily the most beautiful calendar I have ever seen and we are going to make it our mission over the next few months to ensure that anyone who might have a love for everything that Nerdcore represents, learns about them and picks up the calendar.

The calendar was photographed by the beautiful and incredibly gifted photographer Cherie Roberts (who also turns out to be one of the most humble and nicest people I have ever met) and features the absolutely stunning design work of Jason Adam, and some of the most beautiful women you will ever see in and out of a superhero costume (the models for the 2008 edition are Celeste Star, Jessica Kramer, Justine Jolie, Sara Brinsfield, Karlie Montana, Carli Banks. Rachel Biggs, Crystal Klein, & Zoe Britton.)

The party was held at Meltdown Comics in L.A. and the overwhelming energy and excitement for the calendar was quite a cool thing to witness. (Meltdown Comics by the way is one of the most amazing comic book shops I have ever visited and will be getting a permanent link here at Mondopopsickle.com. I suggest fans of Asian cinema, great art books, toys and statues, comics & graphic novels and so much more head over to Meltdown and make it a regular visit. Great staff & a truly impressive selection will earn your repeat business! Meltdown is fantastic!)

Jon M. Gibson (founder & author of I AM 8-Bit, the videogame art movement & the book, respectively) is also the man behind Nerdcore, which makes him pretty much a hero to all of us adult fans of video games, comic books, sci-fi and cinema, because he truly gets that all of us raised on video games & comic books want our entertainment to grow up with us. He knows that fine art and fantasy can be one, and with the Nerdcore 2008 Calendar he delivers on this with class, style, and power.
