Blu-Ray or HD-DVD? - The Mondopopsickle RANT of the week!
It took over 7 years to get most of my video store customers to switch to DVD from VHS and now Hollywood expects consumers to convert to HD or Blu-Ray when they don’t even know which one will win the format war!
Piracy didn’t kill the home video sales & rental industry, Hollywood did!!!
Seriously, how many times should I purchase the same movie in a newer, more special (even ultimate edition?)
The motion picture entertainment industry is so out of touch with the buying public it is a wonder they still make any money!
One of the most satisfying jobs I ever had was managing a video store in NYC but I watched the industry die by its own hand and it was heartbreaking!
I love movies more than any other medium but I hate the suits in charge of making them more than any other corporate evil!
I have over 3,000 DVDs (and not a single pirated copy because I hate pirates, especially Pirates of the Caribbean 2 & 3) and I would gladly upgrade to a hi def player if Hollywood could get it together, but instead we have to be mind-f*cked into submission by a schizophrenic, greedy industry that lives in mansions in Beverly Hills while we live in places like Ohio and New Jersey working 50 hours a week for minimum wage barely paying our rent, never mind an HD-DVD player and a whole new collection of movies we have already purchased.
You want me to buy a HD player of either format? Release a Special edition that is actually SPECIAL! Give us deleted scenes that have something we’d like to see (like the lost Sin City Jessica Alba nudes scenes that should have been filmed) or “making of” features that actually show us how the movie was made (I’m talking to you 300 Special Edition that sucked ass! Seriously, Warner Bros if you want me to pay an extra $5 bucks for the 2 disc edition, give me more guts, glory, nudity and “making of” features that are more than a couple of minutes a piece!!!)
I want the movie industry to start rewarding us fans with products worthy of our hard earned cash!
We are willing to spend our money on cool sh*t if you provide it (I just pre-ordered the 5 disc set of Blade Runner in a brief case and bought the Planet of the Apes Ultimate collection… IN A F*CKING MONKEY HEAD!!!!)
We want you to have our money!
You are our drug dealers and we are tweaking out for some good movie goodies in the best way possible but we are simple and poor and we don’t want to waste our money on 10 standard DVD editions of the same movie if there is an ULTIMATE HD version on the way with 10 times more Jessica Alba nudity!
Sorry, but as consumers we just don’t trust that the minute we buy our PS3 or Toshiba HD-DVD player, you ass-monkeys won’t release a new technology that allows us to download the movie into OUR F*CKING BRAINS!!!
Which HD format should we buy? For a change, we want the one that won’t end up screwing us and making you rich!!!
Until then, me and my 40 inch Samsung Widescreen HD TV and my DVD player will be just fine!
Wake us when you pull your collective heads out of your greedy asses!
