About Mondopopsickle.com
What the Hell is a “Mondopopsickle?”
This site was born out of a desire to help people find more interesting works than what was being offered (and pushed) by mainstream media. Not that we don’t like mainstream stuff because every now and then a television show like Lost or a movie like Fight Club, gains widespread acceptance, but most of the time people settle for what is in front of them at the end of the day, or when the weekend arrives and there is nothing better to do than to see the newest “commercial-disguised-as-a-movie” in the local Cineplex.
We don’t begrudge anyone’s taste, but like to play our part in helping people connect with more complex (or at times less complex but full of engaging absurdity,) and more interesting subjects.
We are our audience and are looking to spread the word to other like-minded individuals.
If you like what we are saying here and what you see then you might like the things we are promoting and supporting.
This is a bias site! We mostly cover material that we like so if you are coming here for objectivity, don’t! The reviews and opinions expressed here are subjective. They are opinions and therefore, certainly not facts!
As I used to tell my employees when I managed video stores, “Don’t tell a customer a movie is bad because you didn’t like it, tell them you didn’t like it but they certainly might.” “It wasn’t bad, but it wasn’t for my tastes.”
Even if it might be a little low brow at times, we are all about celebrating art at this site, and whether that includes photos, movies, music, video games, illustration or design, we will cover material and artists that we find interesting and will try to give you our best reasons why.
We don’t want to be like any web site you already visit because then there wouldn’t be a point to this and our time is too valuable to do something that isn’t original and fun!
Finally, we are very interested in helping struggling artists of every kind find their audience. We are going to work very hard to help promote artists who need it and are having trouble breaking into their field.
We hope you enjoy the new site and will visit often!
