Photography – The New Complete Guide to Taking Photographs - by John Freeman

Many of you know that I recently started to focus on professional photography and launching a side business taking portraits and enjoying a career in fine art photography.

In setting up I decided I needed at least an 8 mega-pixel camera, a TON of good books on photography (which I will be reviewing over the coming weeks) and an assortment of lights and reflectors.

Friends who are also getting into photography have asked me “what is a great book for someone just getting started?” to which I have repeatedly referred them to John Freeman’s excellent, comprehensive and accessible book, Photography – The New Complete Guide to Taking Photographs.

John Freeman’s book covers almost everything you need to know to take a great photograph and what to do with it when you are done. I have picked this book up for a quick read every day for the last two months and just keep finding more and more that has proven useful and valuable.

This book is a must have not just for beginners but for seasoned photographers who might be looking to improve their skills or who just want a beautiful book in their office for reference. (John Freeman’s photographs are fantastic in their own right and an inspiration to aspiring photographers.

I strongly suggest that you pick this book up if you have been looking for a great book on photography but haven’t been able to choose one out of the hundred out there.
